Civic Engagement and Service Education Partnerships (CESEP)

The Civic Engagement and Service Education Partnerships (CESEP) Program supports service learning and the civic mission of Rutgers University by linking faculty and students to local, state, and national community organizations. CESEP’s goals are to make service learning and civic engagement an integral part of the Rutgers experience, strengthen community partnerships, and support engaged scholarship that contributes to the public good.

Students are provided with an orientation, prescreened placements matching students’ interests and course needs, scholarship opportunities, connections to other students interested in civic engagement.

The CESEP program is under the academic leadership of Dr. Maurice Elias. He is a prominent psychologist and Rutgers professor whose scholarship focuses on social-learning skills and emotional intelligence models.
