PURPOSE
The largest college recruitment program in the state brings together New Jersey area employers with college students and graduates seeking employment. Experienced candidates are also welcome to attend.

 

EMPLOYER PARTICIPATION
250 employers will have current and anticipated openings in most career fields and academic majors, including liberal arts, business, science and technical areas. (Some careers are generally not represented, such as education, advertising, public relations and the media.)

 

CANDIDATE PARTICIPATION
Students and graduates from any college or university who wish to work in the New Jersey area are invited to attend. All degree levels and academic majors are welcome. Registration information is below. Dress for interviewing and bring plenty of resumes. There is no fee.

 

TIPS TO CANDIDATES

Bring a pen, paper, and folder/portfolio for holding resumes and writing while standing.

No cell phone use is allowed in the employer areas. Please turn them off.

Register online to enter your resume into the resume database sent to each employer one week after the event. See details below.

Bring an ample supply of attractive, printed resumes to give to employers. No photocopying services are available.

Parking Area for Candidates: Follow the directions below to a large parking lot. A no-hassle shuttle (3 Rutgers buses) running continuously from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. will drop you off at Brower Commons.

Leave backpacks (and possibly coats) in your car.

Research employers in advance by clicking on "List of Employers" below. Collect business cards at the event, and speak with as many representatives as possible.

Give the representative your resume, offer a firm handshake, and be ready to discuss your background, qualifications, and career goals. Ask about the organization and opportunities.

The event is held in Brower Commons and the Rutgers Student Center, 145 & 126 College Ave., New Brunswick, NJ. Call or email for directions to College Ave. if you are being dropped off.

RESUME DATABASE SERVICE

Have your resume distributed to all employers attending the career day via an electronic database sent to each employer one week after the event.

Register online from December 1, 2007 - January 7, 2008.

Follow the easy instructions:
Have your word-processed resume ready for uploading (one-page preferred, 2-page max.).

If you have difficulty registering online using Internet Explorer, try Netscape. If you still have difficulty, email Janet at jbernard@rci.rutgers.edu with a copy of the error page and where it occurred. Attach your resume.

WE WILL NOT COLLECT RESUMES AT THE EVENT FOR THE ELECTRONIC RESUME DATABASE. HOWEVER, BRING RESUMES TO GIVE TO THE EMPLOYERS.

You may attend the event without registering online for the resume database. However, it is highly recommended to have your resume in the resume database sent to each employer one week after the event. Click below to submit your resume.

PARKING

Candidate parking is at the Rutgers Athletic Center (RAC) on the Livingston campus. Three Rutgers buses will run continuously from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

DIRECTIONS

(Check back for changes due to Rt. 18 construction - expect rush hour delays at toll plaza & on Rt. 18 through New Brunswick (updated 12/4/07)

FROM NEW JERSEY TURNPIKE: Take Exit 9 and bear right out of the toll booth for Route 18 North - New Brunswick. Then merge left onto Route 18 N., cross over Route 1, go straight through two lights (Paulus Blvd. & Commercial Ave.), cross over Route 27, and go over the river on the John Lynch Bridge. Take the "Metlars Ln./Rutgers RAC (Livingston Campus)" exit and turn right at the first light onto Avenue E. Take the second left onto Rockafeller Ave. (you'll pass the Athletic Center on your left). Go straight through the 4-way stop sign, crossing Joyce Kilmer Ave. Take the first left into the "Zone L-Yellow Lot" parking lot. Park in sections A1 - D1.

FROM ROUTE 1: Take exit "Route 18 North - New Brunswick" and proceed as you would from the New Jersey Turnpike.

FROM ROUTE 287: Take exit 9 for "River Rd./Bound Brook/Highland Park" and follow signs for Rutgers and Highland Park. Bear right toward River Rd. (Rt. 622 South). Merge left onto River Rd. Proceed about 3 miles, going straight through 5 lights. Go under the Rt. 18 overpass, and turn left at the next (6th) light onto Rt. 18 North. Take the "Metlars Ln./Rutgers RAC (Livingston Campus)" exit and turn right onto Avenue E. Take the second left onto Rockafeller Ave. (you'll pass the Athletic Center on your left). Go straight through the 4-way stop sign, crossing Joyce Kilmer Ave. Take the first left into the "Zone L-Yellow Lot " parking lot. Park in sections A1 - D1.

BY PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION: Take a NJ Transit train (Northeast Corridor) to New Brunswick (www.njtransit.com). Exit the train station onto Easton Ave. and turn right. At the light turn right onto Somerset St. Go one block and turn left onto College Ave. Proceed on College Ave., four long blocks. Brower Commons will be on your right, the Rutgers Student Center on the left (126 College Ave.). Walking time - about 15 minutes. Taxis available.
