Allison Howard

Allison Howard Evolutionary Anthropology major, May 2012
Fox News, New York, NY, Summer 2011

"I learned about this internship opportunity by networking with a Fox News employee. I worked in the booking department for America’s Newsroom, Happening Now, and America Live with Megyn Kelly. Most of my responsibilities related to visiting guests. I greeted them and made sure that they arrived on the set in time for the show. I also conducted pre-interviews, wrote pitch stories, and updated live information about the show. In my work, I also met forensic experts, politicians, and lawyers, many with whom I maintain contact. It was a great experience working in a fast-paced, demanding, real-world environment."

Tara Kousha

Tara Kousha English major, May 2012
Google, Inc. - Consumer Operations, Summer 2010
MTV International - Marketing, Fall 2010
YouTube, LLC - Brand Marketing, Summer 2011
Food Network - Technology, Fall 2011

Sites like indeed.com and company portals have been very helpful for finding internships online. Searching early and often has helped me a lot. At Google, I produced action plans for joint initiatives between marketing and consumer operations to drive community growth, presented “Intern Link” to internship program leaders at MTV, and worked with engineers to analyze Google Maps forum data. Each of my internships helped me learn about what I want to do and do not want to do. My most recent internship with Google BOLD has led to a full-time job offer that I accepted to work as an associate product marketing manager in the company’s Mountain View, California headquarters.

Curt Villarosa

Curt Villarosa Communication major, May 2012
Rutgers Career Services, Fall 2010
VH1 Press Department, Spring 2011
NBC Universal Ad Sales Department, Summer 2011
MTV Series Development Department, Fall 2011

"I learned about my internships through Rutgers career days, university listservs, communication with former interns, company career websites, and employer recruiters. I wrote press releases, created press plans and summary cover sheets, and maintained spreadsheets of various media and press outlets. Through my internships, I learned how to work both independently and with a team. My internships also helped me develop my writing, time management, and communication skills."
Miguel Zorrilla

Miguel ZorrillaCommunication major, December 2011
Altria Group, Summer 2011

"I learned about the Altria internship program at a career fair on campus and interviewed with the company at the Busch Career Services office. As a sales and distribution intern, I administered sales and marketing initiatives for three separate operating companies. This internship provided me with the opportunity to intern and work hands on for a Fortune 200 company. Preparing and presenting real business projects to top management is something that developed my career goals."
Justin Hoffer

Justin Hoffer Accounting major, May 2012
Rutgers University, University Accounting Department, Piscataway, NJ, Summer 2011

"I heard about the Rutgers University accounting internship through word of mouth. I had many responsibilities at my internship: reconciling bank statements, preparing bond fee and bond payment reports, conducting physical inventory audits, auditing expense reports, preparing year-end insurance, and performing account maintenance and analysis. My internship helped me gain the necessary knowledge, experience, and skills required to excel in accounting."
