- Stop by any Career Services office to pick up our Events Calendar, Career Services Guide, action plans, and other free handouts.
- Attend Career Services sponsored workshops and orientations especially designed for students in the Graduate School of Education.
- Prepare your resume or graduate school personal statement and have it critiqued by a career counselor.
- Stop by and pick up the AAEE Job Search Handbook for Educators ($1.00), published each fall by the American Association for Employment in Education.
- Check the education job binders at 46 College Avenue for current openings. Also consult Teaching Opportunities, a monthly periodical with teaching and administrative positions from 7,000 school districts in 28 states. Online jobs earmarked for Rutgers students and alumni are available through CareerKnight.
- Attend the Education Career Day in February at the Rutgers Student Center. Plan to attend early in the day.
- Set up an online credentials file in support of your applications for teaching positions or graudate school. To register and set up your file log on to http://www.interfolio.com/.
- Seek an "internship" (usually several months) or "externship" (usually one week) to gain first-hand exposure to school, other nonprofit, or corporate environments.
- Consult the online Alumni Career Network to identify Rutgers graduates by major. Contact them to inquire about why they chose their major and how it impacted their career.
- Become active in student organizations or do volunteer work to develop career-related skills.
