International Student Job Search & Internship Action Plan
- Visit the Center for International Faculty and Student Services at 180 College Avenue for advice and resources. Attend workshops addressing "On-Campus Employment," "Off-Campus Employment," and "Post-Graduate Employment." Find out what you need to know about your visa status and how it affects your employment eligibility before applying for a position. Call 732-932-7015 or log on to http://internationalservices.rutgers.edu/.
- Visit Career Services and meet with a counselor to discuss topics such as career choice, writing a resume, interviewing skills, and job opportunities. Our offices are located in the Busch Campus Center and 46 College Avenue.

- French Companies in the Northeast U.S.
- American Jobs Abroad
- Hoover's Handbook of World Business
- Almanac of International Jobs and Careers
- International Employment Hotline
- Take advantage of non-working resume builders such as externships, volunteering, or becoming a member of an organization that will allow you to take on responsibilities that relate to your major or career choice.
- Network with Rutgers faculty, alumni, and current students.
- Be open to employment in the U.S., internationally, as well as your country of origin.
- Explore the Internet using the following websites, which contain information on current laws, further education, scholarships, career planning information, and employment opportunities in the U.S. and overseas:

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services
Keeps track of the most current laws pertaining to working in the U.S., citizenship, and immigration.

JobWeb
Contains information on employment challenges for international students in the U.S. Includes resume writing, cultural information pertaining to interviews, and job search links.

InternationalStudent.com
Provides information for international students on attending college and graduate school, obtaining scholarships and insurance, and job opportunities in the U.S. and other countries.

International Student City Career Center
Contains information for international students from start to finish. Includes on-line chats with other international students as well as helpful hits for job searching after graduation. Also serves as a placement service, but a fee is required once placed.

Provides information on and links to government/political jobs for non-U.S. citizens.

Foreign Labor Certification Data Center
Lists companies that sponsor students for the H1-B visa for free through the U.S. Department of Labor. A good alternative to h1visajobs.com.

H1B Sponsors
Free site that lists employers that have sponsored H1B visas in the past and allows you to post a resume.

National Institutes of Health (NIH)
Provides information on careers and jobs for scientists.
