About Our Staff - Career & Interview Center - Busch

Janet Jones, Senior Associate Director 
 
Janet JonesJanet has served as senior associate director of Career Services since September 2002. She directs the Career and Interview Center in the Busch Campus Center.  Janet manages a team of career counselors offering individual career counseling sessions, resume critiques, and career-related workshops. Employer interviews take place in the center from October to April. Previously, Janet served as manager of internship services. She joined Career Services in 1985. She has a B.A. in psychology and a M.Ed. in college counseling from the University at Buffalo, and a M.S. in human resources management from Rutgers. Her areas of expertise include student leadership, social networking, employer branding, and internship program development. Janet is currently an active member of the National Association of Colleges and Employers and the Eastern Association of Colleges and Employers. 
 

Gregory Sobol, Assistant Director 
 
Greg SobolGreg has been with Career Services since 1987. Currently he serves as a specialist where he coordinates career counseling services for students in the sciences and health professions. He also serves as the department liaison to the university LGBT community.  Greg holds a B.A. in psychology and biology and an Ed. M. in counseling psychology, both from Rutgers.  Before coming to Rutgers, Greg has worked at Pace University, the New Jersey Department of Labor, Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services, and Monmouth University. Greg is currently an active member of the Metropolitan New York College Career Planning Officers Association and the National Association of Advisors for the Health Professions.
 

K. Joseph Scott, Assistant Director

Joe ScottJoe has been with Career Services since 1990.  He is the liaison to the School of Engineering and student athletes.  He provides career counseling to students and alumni as well as conducting group seminars on various job search topics.  From 2001-2006, Joe served as the associate director of the Career Center at 61 Nichol Avenue on the Douglass Campus.  He has a B.S. in psychology from Union College and a M.S. Ed. in counselor education from SUNY Oneonta.  In addition to working at Rutgers, Joe is a part-time assistant men’s basketball coach at Caldwell College.
 

Barbara Thomson, Senior Project Coordinator

Barbara came to Rutgers as a career counselor in 1991. She also worked as director of career planning at Monmouth University, assistant director at Towson State University, and career advisor at Florida State University. She has a B.A. in psychology from Susquehanna University and a M.S. in counseling and human systems from Florida State University. Her areas of expertise include managing website, technical, and communications projects.

 

Toi Tyson, Assistant Director 
 
Toi TysonToi has served as an assistant director in the Career and Interview Center in the Busch Campus Center since 2001. She provides individual counseling services and group workshops on a wide range of career-related topics. Prior to this role, she counseled students in the Human Relations & Counseling Center at Kean University. She also spent five years in management in a corporate setting and has served as an adjunct instructor at DeVry University. Toi counsels students and alumni in all majors. Her areas of expertise include counseling undecided and liberal arts students, first and second-year students, and students of color. She has a B.A. in communications and a M.A. in business and industry counseling, both from Kean University. She has served on the executive board of the New Jersey Association of Colleges and Employers and is currently a member of the Eastern Association of Colleges and Employers and the New Jersey Cooperative Education and Internship Association. 
 

Sue Pye, Assistant Director

Sue PyeSue joined Career Services in 2006. She has a B.A. in anthropology and communication from Rutgers and an M.A. in higher education from New York University. Prior to joining the Career Services team, Sue served as assistant director for career development in the Career Center at Seton Hall University and career counselor at The Fashion Institute of Technology. She is a member of the Graduate Career Consortium, Mid-Atlantic Career Counseling Association, New Jersey Cooperative and Internship Association and the Northeast Association of Advisors for the Health Professions. She is the liaison to the Graduate School and a health professions specialist.   
 

Jennifer Broyles - Assistant Director

Jenn BroylesJennifer joined Career Services as a career management specialist in 2006.  Prior to Rutgers, she was employed at the University of Maryland, University Career Center as a program director. She has also worked as an academic advisor and graduate assistant at Rowan University's Career and Academic Planning Center.  Jennifer’s other professional experience includes development and event planning at a private girls school, as well as financial market reporting for Bloomberg. She has a B.A. in communication and psychology from Rutgers and an M.A. in student personnel services from Rowan University. Jennifer specializes in career counseling and program planning for students interested in business careers. She serves as Career Services’ liaison to the Rutgers Business School and the School of Management & Labor Relations.  She is an active member of the Eastern Association of Colleges and Employers. 
 

Tammy J. Samuels, Assistant Director

Tammy SamuelsTammy has served as the assistant director of internship programs since July 2007. Prior to Rutgers, she was employed for five years at Wilson College, three as a dean of students and two as the director of career development. She has also held counseling positions at Middlesex County College and Medgar Evers College. Her other professional experience includes counseling and management in higher education and business. She has a B.A. in women’s studies from Rutgers and an M.A. in counseling-higher education from Montclair State University. She is a member of the Eastern Association of Colleges and Employers and serves on the executive board of the New Jersey Cooperative Education and Internship Association.  Her areas of expertise include workshop development, job search strategies, internship and co-op program development, and counseling undecided and liberal arts students. 
 

Toni Berlingieri, Career Services Coordinator

Toni joined Career Services in 1998. Her responsibilities in the Career and Interview Center include budget projections, budget management, office operations, and information and advice for students, employers, and other visitors to the center.
 

Barbra Bonifield, Career Services Coordinator

Barbra joined Career Services in 1998. She has a B.A. in English from Ithaca College. Her responsibilities include facilitating the technical and service operations of the Career and Interview Center for students, employers, staff, and other visitors to the center, educating visitors about available services and events, and coordinating and marketing our career development  workshops.
