The American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD) is the largest national nonprofit cross-disability member organization in the United States, dedicated to ensuring economic self-sufficiency and political empowerment for the more than 56 million Americans with disabilities. AAPD works in coalition with other disability organizations for the full implementation and enforcement of disability nondiscrimination laws, particularly the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990 and the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.

The National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) is a source of information on the employment of the college educated.

National Business & Disability Council

Contains a resource for employers seeking to integrate people with disabilities into the workplace and companies seeking to reach them in the consumer marketplace.

National Disabled Foundation

The NDF is in Carson, CA and offers internships. The purpose of the NDF is to foster mainstream opportunities and to provide psychological and physical challenges to help integrate disabled people into society through sports, education, culture and teechnology. REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must be a junior or senior with a minimum GPA of 3.0. All academic majors welcome. Applicant must have basic computer skills and excellent communication skills. POSITION DESCRIPTION: People in this non-paid position will perform a variety of tasks in public relations, event organization, fundraising, and office administration. NJ Developmental Disabilities Council

The NJDDC is in Trenton, NJ and offers internships. The NJDDC's primary functions are the development of public policy concerning people with disabilities as well as advocacy and planning with and for them. REQUIREMENTS: Student must have an interest in public policy and systems change. Background in Political Science, Social Work, Social Science, or related fields and entering Junior year. POSITION DESCRIPTION: Student Intern will assist the NJ DDc staff in policy analysis, program reviews, legislative initiatives, and general activities. A program based out of Washington, D.C. which seeks to place individuals with substantial and significant disabilities in summer internships and full-time employment.
