Welcome to the Rutgers University distance career services web page. There are 2 Career Services counseling locations on the New Brunswick/Piscataway Campus. We encourage all alumni and students to utilize our in person services. However, if you are eligible, you may utilize our distance career services through the phone or email.
THIS SERVICE IS FOR RUTGERS - NEW BRUNSWICK/PISCATAWAY ALUMNI AND STUDENTS ONLY
Eligibility - RUTGERS - NEW BRUNSWICK/PISCATAWAY ONLY
To be eligible for distance services, you must meet one of the following criteria:
- Alumnus or alumna living or working 35 or more miles from New Brunswick
- Alumnus, alumna or student with a disability
- Student currently studying abroad
- International student in his or her home country during semester breaks or the summer
Distance Services Offered
We offer the following distance career services:
- Career planning
- Career assessments
- Career transitions
- Graduate school/professional school planning
- Personal statement critiques
- Job search assistance
- Resume development/critiques
- CV development/critiques
- Cover letter critiques
- Interviewing techniques
Fees
Eligible alumni will be charged a fee of $50 per 50 minute session. Please contact Dr. Richard White if your current situation does not permit you to pay the full fee. He may be reached at riwhite@echo.rutgers.edu.
Eligible students will not be charged a fee for distance career services.
Next Steps
- Contact Chrystal McArthur at mcarth@echo.rutgers.edu.
- Chrystal will contact you by phone to conduct a brief intake interview to clarify your goals and expectations. There is no charge for the intake, which takes approximately 10 minutes.
- If your counselor and you decide to continue the process, your counselor will:
- Discuss and determine the preferred mode of delivery.
- Set a time for the initial session via phone or a timeframe for e-mail exchanges.
- Request that you read and sign the Professional Disclosure and Consent Form.
- Request that you send a check for $50 payable to Rutgers, The State University to:
