Thank you for your interest in hiring our talented students. Below is some information about our credit-bearing internship option for undergraduates, the Rutgers Internship & Co-op Program (RICP), as well as some general information on recruiting.
The Rutgers Internship and Co-op Program Coordinator is Tammy J. Samuels, Assistant Director of Internships, at the Career & Interview Center, in the Busch Campus Center. If you have any specific questions related to the program, please email tammy.samuels@rutgers.edu or call 732-445-6127 ext. 11.
Advantages to Participating in RICP:
- Attract motivated students eager to apply their knowledge and academics to employment experiences.
- Stand out as an “employer of choice” by creating a mutual benefit for your organization and your student hire.
- Build students' commitment to your organization.
- Provide students with meaningful work experiences to allow you to evaluate them for future full-time opportunities.
- Join a network of other employers who also value top talent and understand the benefits of hiring a Rutgers student.
Highlights of RICP:
- Students enroll in an online course and complete reflective journals, career-related projects, and evaluations of their internship or co-op experience.
- Students must have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher and 30 academic credits to participate.
- Students may receive both pay and academic credit.
- Employers provide midterm and final performance evaluations of the students to ensure on-going progress and development.
For an experience to be considered a credit-bearing internship, it must meet the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines.
How to Get Started:
Important Reminders:
- Post opportunities up to ten weeks in advance to allow the interview and decision making process to occur before the academic registration deadlines are approaching.
- Recommended posting deadlines:
Spring: Post by Dec. 1st; Extend offers by January 10
Summer: Post by April 1st; Extend offers by May 10
Fall: Post by July 15th; Extend offers by August 20
- We strongly recommend you encourage students to apply for our program several weeks in advance to allow for ample application processing time, approval, and registration prior to the first day of classes.
