Career Opportunities for Majors in
Environmental Policy, Institutions and Behavior

Introduction

The Environmental Policy, Institutions and Behavior program is concerned with the human dimensions of environmental problems. Areas studied include how human actions affect the environment, how societies adapt to changes in natural resources, and how individuals react to environmental hazards. Coursework incorporates concepts from other fields including anthropology, ecology, economics, geography, sociology, political science and psychology. The curriculum offers four options: Health & Environmental Policy, International Environmental & Resource Policy, US Environmental & Resource Policy and an individual option.

The Department's objectives are to teach basics from the various disciplines to illustrate the interaction between society and the environment, to train students in research, to provide "real world" experience, and to train in communicating environmental information coherently.

While many graduates work in a related field, others choose different directions. Many careers do not require a specific major, but rather a wide range of skills and accomplishments. Regardless of your career choices, increase your marketability to employers through internships, responsible work experience, good grades and involvement in college activities.
