Career
Services and all academic departments at Rutgers
share a similar mission: to prepare our students
for meaningful and productive careers beyond
Rutgers. Whether students are gearing for graduate
school or the workplace, they will benefit from
the partnerships that are forged between Career
Services and your department. Here are some
concrete ideas on how we can work together for
the mutual benefit of our students and our departments.
How
Career Services Can Assist Your Department and
Students
Alumni
Speakers
We
assist student organizations in identifying alumni
speakers, panelists or corporate presenters.
Career
Counseling
Our
career counselors can help your students explore
their choice of a major and identify jobs and
internships within a career context.
Career
Planning Site
Students
can utilize the Rutgers Online Career Planning
Site to identify their interests, skills, and
values and see how they relate to Rutgers majors
and jobs obtained by Rutgers graduates with those
majors. We recommend a follow-up career counseling
session.
Class
Presentations
Our
career counselors can make 15 - 50 minute presentations
in class on a variety of career-related topics,
including job hunting, resume, writing, and interviewing.
Employer
Contacts
We
can provide employer contacts that may lead to
candidates for advisory boards, co-op and internship
opportunities for your students, and fund raising
prospects.
Graduate
School
We
assist your students with their graduate school
applications through our annual graduate admissions
fair, graduate school seminars, GRE test prep
seminars, and personal statement critiques.
Internships
Our
career counselors can assist your students to
find internships, which can enrich their academic
experience and coursework.
Major
and Career Profiles
Your
students can review our "major and career
profiles" that we have developed for 84 Rutgers
majors.
Online
Jobs
Students

Rutgers
Credentials Service
The
Rutgers Credentials Service maintains letters
of reference for current students and alumni
for use in applying to graduate school, teaching
positions or other employment opportunities.
A typical file contains three letters of recommendation
from professors. The Rutgers Credentials Service
is now online. Through a partnership between
Career Services and Interfolio.com, credentials
can be managed 24 hours a day, seven days a
week. Visit http://www.interfolio.com/recommendationwriters/ for more information.

addition, the following links may be useful
