Career Opportunities for Majors in Bioenvironmental Engineering

Introduction

Engineering is a profession in which knowledge of the mathematical and natural sciences is applied to develop ways to use the materials and forces of nature economically for the benefit of humanity.

At Rutgers, four-year undergraduate curricula leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science are offered in the fields of applied sciences, bioenvironmental, biomedical, chemical, civil, electrical and computer, industrial, and mechanical engineering, and materials science & engineering. Numerous areas of concentration are available within these disciplines, such as aerospace, biochemical, environmental, and packaging engineering.

Bioenvironmental (formerly bioresource) Engineering utilizes the physical and biological sciences in solving problems related to plants, animals, food, wastes, and our natural environment. Graduates within this major have a unique engineering education enabling them to apply the rapid advances being made in the biological and environmental sciences for the benefit of humanity. The program prepares students for employment as practicing engineers with industrial companies, government agencies and private consulting firms, for international service, or for additional study at the graduate level.
