Career Opportunities for Majors in Middle Eastern Studies

Introduction

Middle Eastern Studies is an interdisciplinary program that examines the political, social, and cultural history of the Middle East. Students study one of the Middle Eastern Languages (Arabic, Persian, Turkish, or Hebrew). They learn about communication and understanding between Middle Eastern people, the Muslim community, the relationship between the Middle East and other countries, and conflict within the Middle East.

Students in Middle Eastern Studies develop skills that are versatile and useful in a variety of settings. Many careers do not require a specific major, but are chosen on the basis of personal interests, skills, preferences, and ambitions. Graduates can pursue careers in business, government, education, and the Nonprofit sector. Regardless of your career plans, it is important to develop your marketability through internships, responsible work experience, good grades, and participation in campus activities.
