INTRODUCTION

To enroll in the Rutgers Internship and Co-op Program you will need to submit a program application and work information form, subject to approval.  Upon acceptance into the program, you will be given a special permission number to register for the course. 

Acceptance into the program will be on a first-come, first-served basis.  Priority will be given to those students in the School of Arts & Sciences and those students completing an internship for the first time. NOTE: 


HOW TO START
  1. Attend an information session, Internships and Co-op 101; to register, visit the “Events” section of our website.

  2. Complete a program application and work information form. You will need to submit the work information form once you’ve found and accepted a position. Students are responsible for finding and securing their own position.  Career Services can provide assistance upon request.

    Submit your completed application and work information form to Tammy J. Samuels, Assistant Director, Career Services - Busch Campus Center. You can send them by fax 732-445-6150, mail (Career Services, Busch Campus Center, Bartholomew Road, Piscataway, NJ 08854), or deliver them to Career Services in the Busch Campus Center.

    Application deadlines

    2012 Deadlines:  
    Spring: January 17;  Summer: May 18;  Fall: September 4
     
  3. Start or continue your search for an internship or co-op assignment.  You can find positions through Career Services' online recruiting system, CareerKnight, or on your own.  Career Services will not place students in positions but will assist with the process.
     
  4. Meet with your academic advisor to discuss how an internship or co-op may affect your class schedule.
     
  5. Check with the Financial Aid Office to see how your scholarships and/or aid may be affected, especially while on co-op.
     
  6. Notify the Office of Residence Life of your internship or co-op assignment if you live in a residence hall.  If your housing situation could be affected, then arrange a meeting to discuss the details.  

HOW TO REGISTER

Upon acceptance into the program, you will be given a special permission number to register for the internship or co-op course.  Go to the Registrar’s website at http://registrar.rutgers.edu/NBINDEX.HTM to process your registration. The courses will be hybrid versions, taught online with one in-class orientation session. 

It is mandatory that you attend the Internship & co-op orientation at the start of your course assignment, held the first week of classes.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

International students on an F-1 visa may want to inform the Center for International Faculty and Student Services of their plans to obtain a co-op or internship assignment prior to enrolling in the program.
